Sudbury

Our first destination has been reached! We left Otttawa today shortly before 1pm and got to Sudbury around 6pm. I think we made pretty good time considering google maps said it would take us 6.5 hours. We made one small pit stop at a grocery store in Mattawa and a liquor store (of course). Andre was looking for a mickey of scotch to "kick off the trip", but of course, they only had 26ers -- so we got a $7 bottle of wine instead. Delish!

Upon entering Sudbury, I was very shocked at how many rocky hills there are. The whole town has been blasted into the side of large rocks. It's actually kind of strange.

We had dinner at Indian Summer, which had wonderful reviews on the internet. Andre heard about it from someone (he doesn't remember who). The place was hot, they obviously didn't have A/C and when it's 30 degrees outside, that doesn't make for a comfortable dinner. The place was pretty dirty, too. It was kind of dusty and run-down looking, the salt and pepper shakers were very sticky... but all of that doesn't matter. It was DELICIOUS! I ordered the Butter Chicken and a mango lassi and Andre ordered the Curry Chicken. The food was lipsmacking. I noticed most people did take-out, and I now understand why.

After supper, we went to visit the Big Nickel. You can't go to Sudbury without visiting this. It's in the parking lot of a museum that thankfully was closed by the time we got there because the parking fee would have been $5 just to see the Nickel.

We're now at our motel, after a while of struggling with the wireless internet connection, we're finally ready to settle in. Tomorrow, we head to Thunder Bay, which Google Maps says is 12 hours away. A long drive!
Andre is clean shaven at this point and as announced that he will be growing a vacation beared, stay tunned.....

Goodnight!
